History of Kyushu Sangyo University(excerpt)

1960 Jan. Authorization received for establishment of Nakamura Eisu Gakuen and Kyushu Shouka University(Department of Commerce under Faculty of Commerce)
Apr. Kyushu Shouka University opened as a single-department university (Department of Commerce, Faculty of Commerce), with its school buildings located at Nagahama 2-chome and 1-chome of Fukuoka City and its athletic field located at Oaza Tonoharu Biwabashi, Fukuoka City.
Sep. University moved to Tonoharu and school buildings, library, and laboratory were constructed.
1962 Apr. Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Commerce, established.
1963 Jan. Authorizations received for changing the administrating organization’s name to Nakamura Sangyo Gakuen and changing the school name to Kyushu Sangyo University.
Apr. Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Chemistry established under Faculty of Engineering, and Department of Economics established under Faculty of Commerce.
1964 Apr. Departments of Economics and Commerce established under Evening School of Commerce and Departments of Civil Engineering and Architecture established under Faculty of Engineering.
1966 Apr. Departments of Fine Art, Design, and Photography established under Faculty of Art and Design.
1967 Aug. Evening School of Commerce moved from 5-30 Maizuru 1-chome, Fukuoka City to Tonoharu Biwabashi, Fukuoka City.
1968 Apr. Department of Industrial Management established under Faculty of Management.
1972 Apr. Pre-master’s Program in Fine Arts (Fine Art, Design and Photography) established.
1973 Apr. Graduate School of Engineering (Master’s Programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry and Civil Engineering) established.
1974 Apr. Graduate School of Fine Arts (Master’s Programs in Fine Art, Design and Photography) established.
1975 Apr. Graduate School of Economics (Master’s Program in Economics) established.
Master’s Program in Architecture established under Graduate School of Engineering.
1981 Apr. Department of International Management established under Faculty of Management.
1993 Apr. Department of Economics (day/evening courses) established under Faculty of Economics.
1994 Apr. Departments of International Studies of Culture and Regional Studies of Culture established under Faculty of International Studies of Culture
Graduate School of Management (Master’s Program in Management, day/evening courses) established.
1996 Apr. Graduate School of Commerce (Master’s Program in Commerce, day/evening courses) established.
Doctoral Programs in Production Systems Engineering, Social Development and Environmental Systems Engineering (day/evening courses) established under Graduate School of Engineering.
1997 Apr. Doctoral Program in Management (day/evening courses) established under the Graduate School of Management.
1998 Apr. Graduate School of International Studies of Culture (The 5-year Doctoral Program in International Studies of Culture, day/evening courses) established.
Doctoral Program in Commerce (day/evening courses) established under the Graduate School of Commerce.
1999 Apr. Department of Tourism Industry established under the Faculty of Commerce, and Department of Tourism Industry established under Evening School of Commerce.
Doctoral Program in Economics (day/evening courses) established under the Graduate School of Economics
Doctoral Program in Plastic Expression (day/evening courses) established under the Graduate School of Fine Arts.
2002 Apr. Departments of Social Information Systems and Intelligent Informatics established under the Faculty of Information Science, and Department of Craft Art established under Faculty of Fine Arts.
2004 Apr. Department of Biorobotics established under the Faculty of Engineering, and the Department of Clinical Psychology established under Faculty of International Studies of Culture.
Department of Industrial Chemistry renamed the Department of Applied Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Department of Civil Engineering renamed the Department of Civil and Urban Design Engineering under Faculty of Engineering.
Graduate School of Information Science (Master’s and Doctoral programs in Information Science, day/evening courses) established.
The 5-year Doctoral Program in International Studies of Culture (day/evening courses) reorganized as Master’s and Doctoral Programs in International Studies of Culture (day/evening courses) under Graduate School of International Studies of Culture.
Master’s Programs of Graduate Schools of Economics, Commerce, Management, Engineering and Fine Arts renamed.
2007 Apr. Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, renamed the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering.
2008 Apr. Department of Photography under the Faculty of Fine Arts renamed the Department of Photography and Imaging Arts, and Department of Regional Studies of Culture under Faculty of International Studies of Culture renamed the Department of Japanese Culture.
2009 Apr. Department of Information Science established under Faculty of Information Science.
Graduate School of Economics and Business (Master’s programs in Economics and Business, and Doctoral program in Economics and Business, day/evening courses) established.
2010 Apr. Department of Housing and Interior Design established under Faculty of Engineering.
2011 Apr. Master’s and Doctoral programs in Industrial Technology Design (day/evening courses) established under Graduate School of Engineering.
2012 Apr. Master’s program in Plastic Expression established under Graduate School of Fine Arts.
2016 Apr. Departments of Fine Arts and Media Sciences, Photography and Imaging Arts, Visual Design, Living Environment Design, and Social Design established under Faculty of Art and Design.
2017 Apr. Departments of Information Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering established under Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Department of Life Science established under Faculty of Life Science, and Departments of Architecture, Housing and Interior, and Civil and Urban Design Engineering established under Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Kyushu Zokei Art College renamed Kyushu Sangyo University, Zokei Junior College of Art and Design.
2018 Apr. Departments of Clinical Psychology, Childhood Education, and Sport Science and Health established under Faculty of Human Sciences, and Department of Business and Marketing established under Faculty of Commerce, and Departments of Tourism, and Regional Development established under Faculty of Collaborative Regional Development.
2020 Mar. Department of Fine Art abolished under Faculty of Art and Design.
2021 Mar. Departments of Applied Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Architecture abolished under Faculty of Engineering.
2022 Mar. Departments of Civil and Urban Design Engineering, and Housing and Interior Design abolished under Faculty of Engineering, and Department of Design abolished under Faculty of Art and Design.
